The Norfolk Learning Disability Partnership Board (LDPB) met to talk about important topics for people with learning disabilities in Norfolk. Here’s a simple summary of what happened.
What We Talked About
1️⃣ Employment Support
👔 Roger Allen & Edward Young spoke about different services to help people find jobs:
- Norfolk Employment Service – Helps people with a care plan (aged 18-65) who want to work.
- Local Supported Employment – Helps autistic adults and people with learning disabilities get paid jobs.
- Skills & Employment Team – Offers work experience opportunities.
- Day Services Life Opportunities – Supports people to learn skills for independence and employment.

2️⃣ Learning Disability Strategy Update
📑 Amanda Johnson said the Learning Disability Strategy is being updated.
- She will visit Locality Groups in June & July to ask for ideas.
- The new draft plan should be ready in September or October 2023.
- A project called “My Happiness Project” will help shape the new plan.
📌 Action: Lucy Adcock will contact David Parker to learn more about My Happiness Project.
3️⃣ Locality Groups Update
📍 The first round of Locality Group Meetings has finished.
👥 At least 6+ people attended each meeting.
📢 People talked about:
✅ Housing – Not enough suitable homes for people with learning disabilities.
✅ Employment – More job opportunities and support needed.
✅ Transport – Bus drivers need training on learning disabilities.
📌 Action: These topics will be considered in the new Learning Disability Strategy.
4️⃣ Other Updates
🆕 New Self-Advocates – 5 new people joined the board.
📰 Newsletter – Lucy wants to send a newsletter every 3 months with meeting updates.
